+                <dd>The <tt>ARCH_DATA_MODEL</tt> variable
+                    is used to specify whether the build is to generate 32-bit or 64-bit
+                    binaries. 
+                    The Solaris build supports either 32-bit or 64-bit builds, but
+                    Windows and Linux will support only one, depending on the specific
+                    OS being used.
+                    Normally, setting this variable is only necessary on Solaris.
+                    Set <tt>ARCH_DATA_MODEL</tt> to <tt>32</tt> for generating 32-bit binaries, 
+                    or to <tt>64</tt> for generating 64-bit binaries.

+                <dt><tt>BUILD_NUMBER</tt> </dt>
+                <dd>
+                    The build number for the build (<i>e.g.</i> "b27"). 
+                    The default value is "b00".

+                <dt><tt>MILESTONE</tt> </dt>

+                    The milestone name for the build (<i>e.g.</i>"beta"). 
+                    The default value is "internal".

+                        <li>The location of the GNU make binary</li>
+                        <li>The location of the Bootstrap JDK <tt>java</tt>
